What's that salty wet stuff?

Life is full of firsts when you're a 5 month old pup and today was a first visit to the sea. She hasn't quite learned about not drinking the salty water yet but the stormy vistas at West Beach and the deserted sands were a treat for both of us.

A first win.

The year 8/9 B rowers scored Gold today with a win at the first Regatta for the Season despite the difficulty of breaking a seat mid race. Well done boys.

Maxie learns to swim.

A thirsty Maxie, the new puppy, has to negotiate the garden bed, angles and elevation to get to the water and doesn't fall in till she's had her fill. Well done girl.

Holding the Man

The solar installation at the festival theatre lights up the plaza after our night seeing "Holding the Man"  a funny, tender, poignant play about a true life love story of 2 young men set in a "70's Melbourne that I am all too familiar with.
Worth a look if you can get there before the end of October.

Byron bathing beauties.

The bigger cousins get wet too. Some of them without expecting to.

Cousins

The wee cousins love having the big ones around. A perfect excuse for a family reunion in a sunny resort.

Sea Kayaking with the whales

With milky flat seas and a bay full of whales we headed out in sea kayaks to hopefully have a close encounter with the giant sea mammals. We searched the horizon and swam,  and listened to them calling under water. Even though a pod of dolphins entertained us with their antics, the whales only came as close as 200 metres....then started showing off just after we surfed in, flipping, breaching, spouting and  diving. Ha

Tallow beach

Just a short walk from our apartment in Byron is the beautiful Tallow beach and Arakwal where waterbirds, surfing and snakes feature.

Sick!

Not the ideal way to spend and organise a holiday with/for 36 people.
Fever Las Vegas!

Creating Art from Utility Boxes

In Byron even the serviceable objects become works of art.

Beautiful Byron

With white sand, warm sun, hippy culture, fun markets, friendly faces, organic produce, vistas to a beautiful lighthouse and whales spouting in the bay, Byron Bay and Belongil beach is where it's all happening in northern NSW. Our family reunion is here this year...and we're loving it.

Lucky strike.

Donkey Orchids in Belair.

It's orchid time again

Even in her jet-lagged state Lizzie was able to get out for a walk on the promise that we would encounter some orchids.
Though difficult to see at first they are everywhere once you get your eye in! Here a mini native wildflower garden starts our our lucky streak.
