Red Carpet

After heavy rain our hiking trail has become a vivid carpet of red berries.

Season's change

As the mornings get crisper, and we prepare to put the clocks forward an hour, the evidence of the season change is clear like the skies.

Banff time again..Watch and get excited!

Longboarding...Adelaide Hills

Ando's smashed helmet, evidence of his nasty
longboarding crash on the old freeway today.
Tim was luckily following him in the car to video and...pick up the pieces.
$40 on a helmet well spent.

Wet wool

The unseasonal drenching rain has left my alpaca girls hungry and smelling deliciously of wet wool.

The spruce cycle

The spruce reaching it's peak has been filling the air and covering everything with fine yellow pollen.
Hay fever sufferers beware.
Until the rain...where the beautiful golden spikes met their demise on the deck.
Just rewards?

Wildlife rescue

There's never a dull moment here.
This poor little guy got caught in the chicken shed with the fowl savages, and I found him this morning with a bleeding and broken leg.
Unfortunately even our lovely Stirling vet couldn't fix it so it was kindest to put him to sleep.

The cousins visit

So nice to see our little cousins hanging out with their big cousins.
Tim and Ryder

Someone's not pulling their weight.

Escape artist

While driving one of our chickens to where Rosanna is house sitting, (thinking it was suffocating) I opened the lid of the box beside me a wee crack...to an explosion of feathers and clucking, as the chicken flew over to the back seat and landed on Pepper.
Luckily for all the people on the road at that moment our wonderful canine just took it all in her stride and let the chicken continue with the bird's eye view from on top of her back.
It was hilarious!

Glassy Gulf

After a beautiful bike ride from
the city to Henley beach,
we were met
with this
magnificent
vista of the sea.
One of the most powerful visions I have experienced was the first photograph of the Earth from outer space. The image of a blue planet floating in deep space, glowing like the full moon on a clear night, brought home powerfully to me the recognition that we are indeed all members of a single family sharing one little house.

Full moon setting

Rising for rowing in the dark is getting harder as the autumn months roll in. This morning however, the full moon was setting over the sea, the lights of Glenelg were still glittering and the first flight for the day reflected the moonlight as it took off with its load of red eye travellers.

Who's in love with their new puppy?

Hamish has finally arrived at the Holmes and created a whole new opportunity to shop for colour co-ordinated pet accessories.
Pepper on the other hand had to spend the afternoon at the vets getting her sick tummy sorted under general anaesthetic.

Womadness

It's with a tinge of sadness but also huge fulfillment that we say goodbye to another amazing 4 days of music in the park.
Our energy only seemed to increase with time spent absorbing this joyous atmosphere.

Laughter yoga

Why not start the day with some laughter yoga to set the mood for another
magical day
of Womadness.
Laughter Yoga
combines Laughter with Yogic Breathing (Pranayama). Anyone can Laugh for No Reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group; with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits.

Earthquake rocks Japan and triggers killer Tsunami

An earthquake of the scale 8.9 hit Sendai setting off a Tsunami that is expected to reach as far as Antarctica.
10s of thousands of people are missing and a nuclear reactor has exploded in the Fukushima prefecture.
It's so hard to imagine the devastation and pain being felt by so many in Japan while we remain oblivious in our idyllic Womad environs.

Generosity

Be generous....
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
For as long as you can.

The World's Geatest Shave

My beautiful girl braved the shears in her mother's hands and shaved her locks to raise money for Leukaemia research.
She has raised $3000 so far but it's not too late to sponsor her.
Go to Rosanna's great shave under web links.

Rosanna's Shaving her hair for Charity

Please sponsor her...follow the link below in NEWS

Chased by a Belair native.

This emu was large, cute, but definitely not friendly. (Perhaps affected by the consumption of too many blackberries, which,  I have to say are still flourishing AND deliciously addictive.)
I had to hold a stick above my head to show it that I was actually taller, and not to be messed with. Rosanna though was not fazed.
Lots of Kangaroos this morning too and SO many chattering birds enjoying the magnificent morning.

Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

Sunchasers

Lotus pods turn to the sun in the early morning and only an occasional bloom remains.

The Concert

Michael BublĂ© crooned his little heart out tonight wowing the 1000s of drooling women in the audience.
"Naturally 7" were also an awesome arcapella support act.
